So today we came back from lunch and the girls took Kaden outside to play and in true to Talbot family tradition we had yet another medical emergency. My neighbors dog Tucker who is described by his owners as "mean" was taken out for a potty break and was on his way back inside without a leash when the dog and my neighbor approached my kids and without provocation bit Kaden on the arm. Now Kaden was wearing a coat and my neighbor didn't even know that her dog had bitten Kaden. So she comes to my backdoor with my three hysterical kids and informs me that her dog knocked him over with his nose. No big deal right? Well I shut the door and took off his coat and I was met by a large amount of blood and a very badly cut arm. It was right in the crease of his elbow which I know to be the home of several veins, one artery and several tendons. I'm sure that more exists there but alas this is the extent of my medical knowledge. I grabbed some paper towels and immediately dialed 911. The cops showed up as well as several medics from the fire department and of course an ambulance. The doctors couldn't do a pretty stitch because they had to leave it open for any possible infection to drain out. So he is going to have one huge scar according to the Dr. but it was the safest way to treat the wound and folks I'm serious when I say that the following image is gross. The first one is after a dose of morphine but before the surgery (yes it was technically a surgery).
Poor poor little guy. I think tucker's owner better buy a leash if he's going to live. I really think you should file charges and at least try to get compensation. Wait till it heals so you can show the nasty scar to the judge.
I can't believe that it was that bad even with his coat on! Drugs can be so wonderful (I love his cute little drowsy smile). I'm so sorry and I hate that dog... xoxo
oh brooke!!! I feel so sick and sad for Kaden! What idiot neighbors, seriously! Poor kaden at least it is Easter time and that might distract him a little, oh I am so sorry!

I'm so sorry. That is so sad. I'm just glad he's okay. What a day.
Poor little Kaden. Stupid neighbor, that dog should be put down, and honestly I think you should press charges. I'm glad he's doing okay though.

That is so horrible, having a son around the same age-those photos make me hurt. At least he'll have a cool battle wound right?
Wow, I am so, so sorry. We all prayed for Kaden. (Andy, me, my mom, & Annie). What a trooper. We're thinking about you guys.
